Yankees Cleats
Yankees cleats, which shoes will the most expensive feet in the game wear to the 2009 World Series?
First Base
The Yankees' Steve Austin x 30,
Mark Teixeira
pretty much lived up to his career stats during the regular season, hitting .292 with 39 Home Runs.
But he may not be up for working overtime this year, so far he's 8 for 39 (.205) and 1 Home Run in the 2009 post season.
Here is a picture of Mark in his golfing shoes:

Second Base
At second base
Robinson Cano
may be another Yankee that has been enjoying riding the A-Rod and Jeter express to the World Series.
So far he is batting .229 in the off season- though he did hit .260 in the ALCS.
Here he is in his Nikes:

Otherwise, Cano enjoyed his best regular season since 2006. He hit .320 with 25 HRs and 85 RBIs . We are calling a big first World Series from Robinson.
Short Stop
Even by his own Hall of Fame standards,
Derek Jeter
is enjoying an excellent year. He's only bettered this years .406 on base percentage twice before in his career. One of those years, 2000, was the last time the Yankees won it all.
He's doing his leadership stuff in the post season too, as usual, this time batting .299 with 3 homers in the play-offs and ALCS.
He'd probably be our favorite Yankee if his signature model Nikes weren't so

ugly.
We suppose some would call them 'traditional', sort of like the Yankee uniforms, which we admit may be popular some day- even the hats.

Here's a picture of his Yankees cleats in action:

Third Base
In a definite role reversal,
Alex Rodriguez
is following a relatively disappointing regular season with an absolute block-buster post season.
In 9 games of play-off and ALCS ball, A-Rod is batting .438 with an on base percentage of .548 and a slugging percentage of .969.
He's got 5 homers and 12 RBIs... the guy is simply locked in.
Definitely not the same guy that that in the 2005,2006 and 2007 post seasons batted .133, .071 and .267 respectively and caused Steinbrenner Sr. so much sadness.

But that is all water under the bridge now.
AROD has his own line of Nike SHOX:

Which are pretty sweet, here they are on the field.

Catcher
Coming off an injury plagued 2008
Jorge Posada
is back to being one of the better offensive catchers in the league.
He also does the Yankees Cleats thing- he wears Nikes:

While Posada brings a .284 average and 22 Home Runs, in 110 games into the post season, starting pitcher AJ Burnett (one of the three players involved in the most recent episode of the Yankees buying championships)apparently refuses to work with him, or at least prefers to work with back up catcher, Javier Molina.
Jorge is understandably not very happy about that state of affairs. I guess we wouldn't be either. I mean Poasada has almost 100 post-season games under his belt and Burnett.... well he sold his soul in the off-season. That's about it....
Yet its seems AJ is already setting the line-up card in Yankee-land, go figure.
Sorry Jorge, ask for a trade. You deserve to play every day, in our book.
Left Field
WoW! Cool shoes!

Yes those are
Johnny Damon's
simply awesome looking Puma cleats. We also like them because it seems like Damon breaks with some sort of Yankee Cleats tradition by not wearing Nikes.
Let's talk about Damon's defence in Left Field. Did we mention he has some really cool cleats?
But seriously, in a series with two teams as well matched as the Phillies and the Yankees - Damon's well below average glove in Left and Cabreras equally bad glove in Center could spell the difference this year. You heard it here first.
Damon's offence is, as usual, there. He hit .286 with 24 HRs this year. After a forgetable playoff, he stepped up nicely in the ALCS.
But offense is not the issue, in our opinion here.
Here he is in his cool cats:

Center Field
In Center Field we have an extremly rare type of Yankee.
Melky Cabrera
actually came up through the Yankee organisation.
Melky had a big ALCS, hitting .391 with 2 doubles in his 6 games. On the season he rebounded slightly from a disappointing 2008, batting .274.
As mentioned above, defence is a weakness for him and Damon.
He contributes his share to our tapping the Philies outfield to be the difference makers in this Series.
We expect to see Melky doing a lot of this against the Phillies:

Right Field
Nick Swisher
is another, (but not so often talked about) off season signing for the Yankees.
Swisher batted .249 with 29 HRs.
That's a 5 HR improvement from coming from the White Sox' Cellular Field to the Yankees' Happy Homer Grounds.
The best thing about Nick though, is that he has at least an average defensive game.
We think these Yankees Cleats are Nikes:
Starting Pitcher-1
Well he billed and lived up to his billing.
CC Sabathia
signed an 8-year, $160 million with the Yankees during the off season went on to go 19-8 with a 3.37 ERA over 230 IP.
Concerns about his ability to produce in the off-season have also been allayed as he won the ALCS MVP, and so far has pitched 22.2 innings of 1.19 ERA ball, getting win decisions in all three of his starts.
The Yankees taking game 6 set up CC's start in game one of the Series and a duel with former teammate with the Indians, and fellow American League Cy Young winner
Cliff Lee.
Ladies and gentlemen, it doesn't get any better than this.... with two line ups like this, in the Happy Homer Grounds in New York, and to think we may actually wind up with a pitching duel. Wow.
Where were we?
Oh yeah, cleats.
Since CC is one of those guys that likes wearing his pants to the floor, this is the best picture we could find of his size 15, Nike Air Battleships.

Starting Pitcher - 2
The third piece of the Yankees $423 million off season pennant purchase,
A.J Burnett
was the 'cheapest' of the big three (Sabbathia and Teixeira being the other two)- as he only got a 5 year comittment from the Yanks for $82.5 million while CC and Tex both got 8 year deals for $180 and $160 million each, respectively.
Of the three, Burnett has been the most inconsistent and has a season ERA of 4.04,while notching a 13-9 record. He has had a less than spectacular ALCS- making two appearances for no decisions and allowing 8 earned runs over 12 and a third innings (5.84 ERA).
Maybe he should stop whining about his catcher and play ball. We have commented elswhere on his prima-donna attitude with oneof the really class acts in New York,
catcher Jorge Posada,
so we'll suffice it to say here that we would love to see Philly smack this guy around a bit on the big stage. Here's AJ in one of his favorite pairs of Yankees Cleats Nikes tossing to one of his favorite catchers.

Starting Pitcher - 3
Back for another year with his team
Andy Petite
is definitely giving the Yankees Cleats their $5.5 million worth. In fact, value for money this was probably one of the best signings of the Yankees' off season. Burnett cost three times more for about the same performance and 13 more innings pitched. In the post season, the veteran Pettite has out-performed thus far, going 2-0 over three starts for 19 innings and a 2.37 ERA. We are fans. Here's Andy and his Yankees Cleats Boks.

Closer
The Legend, some say the best of all time, so there isn't much for us to say here, except that if you are a Phillies fan, or like us, would like to see the Phillies win, you should hope not to see
Mariano Rivera
during the series.2009 was his 7th year of 40+ saves (44 of 46 opportunities). He has saved 9 of 10 opportunities in his World Series career, with the lone blown save costing the Yankees Cleats the championship in 2001. Yankees Cleats fans are hoping to see Mariano and his nike Yankees Cleats finish the 2009 season in a fashion resembling this:

Leave Yankees Cleats and return to news.
