Traxion and Adidas Cleats
Traxion is a technology developed by Adidas that claims to optimize "traction" in a particular sport by utilizing proprietary stud patterns which are engineered and customized to the specific sport. The engineering and customization is based upon Adidas' research of common movements made by players in that sport. For example, in womens softball, Adidas has found the 8 x 4 cleat configuration to be the most appropriate design. However, NFL football cleats employ a more rounded or circular pattern not unlike the
Ringor
models. The customization concept also is applied to specific field surfaces (examples are artificial turf, grass, etc...). Adidas' utilizes this method to achieve optimal cleat pressure diffusion which in turn leads to a more comfortable playing experience for the athlete.
