Syndactyly Description and Treatment

Syndactyly is the scientific word for webbed feet. The same type webbing occuring in some birds and mammals can also occur in humans.

Usually this congenital condition is discovered and corrected at birth through surgery and a skin graft.

However, if for some reason the condition is not corrected, synadactyly does not seem to impair athletic performance in a any way. In fact, the condition actually prevents athlete's foot from developing in the affected areas.

For that reason we do not see why an athlete should risk surgery to correct this essentially cosmetic condition. Unless,of course, the appearances are causing him or her undue duress.

Leave syndactyly and return to healthy cleats
