His research uncovered common complaints of discomfort and even pain associated with the cleats of the day, The circular design both helped avoid injury while actually enhancing performance in the precise movements common for athletes in these particular sports. Although, Ringor now only makes Ladies Softball Cleats, the impact of Ihlenburg's design can be seen in most baseball cleats made by all of the big manufacturers (example... Nike, Adidas, etc...).
