Replacement Cleats
Replacement cleats for all sports covered by cleats-info.(Right now we are only looking at baseball deals below, due to the season, but we include product descriptions for all our sports).
We just want to be clear here for people who might not fully understand what are detachable or replaceable cleats. When you go to your local sports store looking for cleats, we can say you have two choices... 1) molded cleats and 2) detachable/replaceable cleats. For molded cleats, the studs on the bottom of the shoes are permanent and can not be removed. You have no control over the size (it is what it is) and you have no control over the "wear-down" of the stud (maybe after three weeks of practice you only have little "nubbins" or only small bumps left where there was once cleats.
With detachable/replaceable cleats you have more control. For example... if it has not rained for weeks, and the football field is very dry, hard, and without much grass... then you screw in your 1/2 inch replacement cleats. If it has been raining for the last three weeks and the football field is a large swamp and really really muddy... then you put on the 1 inch replacements. If your 1/2 inch replacement cleats have "worn-down" you simply buy more at a much, much cheaper cost than buying a complete new pair of cleats.
Below we show a picture of some detachable soccer cleats. Here you can see the cleats. These cleats can be removed and replaced.
Pictured below is a youth molded soccer cleat. Here you can obviously see that the cleats can not be changed. If the cleats wear down or the field playing conditions change... you are stuck with your molded plastic cleats. : (
Football
Detachable studs are particularly useful in football, where field textures and game/weather conditions often vary widely, contest to contest.
Football cleats come in 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 and 1-inch sizes. We recommend buying in at least the 1/2 and 3/4 lengths to allow for customization to wet/dry conditions and soft/hard playing surfaces. The different sized cleats basically give you another 4 shoes to choose from! (we are currently researching football cleat best buys here are some that we have found so far, check back as we get closer to season).
Baseball
Baseball cleats are generic in size, made from simliar polyurethane materials, and are inter-changeable amongst the major manufacturers. It makes sense, then, to shop for price. What we have found is that best deals are often out of stock- so when you find them, buy in quantity.
Penguin
The "brand name" of replacement cleats, Penguin costs a little more, but are always avaiable, and are reliably packaged. Here is the Penguin 12-Pack (click pic. to buy)
This set fits Nike, adidas and Mizuno brands only (doesn't fit PUMA). Screws included. You can get the Penguin Pro Arc Cleat 12-Pack for $7.99. These 14 packs are also sold as "universal" but don't list Puma as a brand that is covered:
Adidas
If you are looking for specifically Adidas replacements, we have a good deal for you: if you click on the pic you will see these cleats listed for $7.99, on Eastbay.... but if you
go to our store you can find the same cleats for $3.99
(just scroll to the bottom of the store, past all the shoes) also from Eastbay. We don't know why the prices are different, but if you plan to use Adidas cleats for a while, this may be a good time to stock up!
Pro Arc
At $5.95 Pro Arcs are the cheapest "universal" studs we have found. Unfortunately, they never seem to be in stock. They fit most Major Brands including Nike, Reebok,Adidas and Mizuno and feature a metal reinforced base for extra stability. The brand claims superior traction and durabilty through design and a special polymer construction
