Perforated Forefoot and Cleats
A "perforated forefoot" simply means that there are holes (usually smaller sized), usually in the
upper
of the cleats. The hope in the design is that these holes add
breathability
to the shoe and specifically to the foot of the wearer. A hot, sweaty and wet foot leads to blisters and comfort issues.
These holes are normally used with
synthetic leather.
Synthetic Leather has a bad reputation and factual history when it comes to breathability, and therefore the holes are used to try and overcome this lack of breathability. Our personal experience is that these holes do little to improve breathability, however we are yet able to confirm this as fact. Here is a picture of a pair of cleats with a "perforated forefot"... and actually a "perforated heel"...
