Mizuno Finch Franchise G3

The Mizuno Finch Franchise G3 sneaks in with 6 out of 10 possible stars (almost 5). In comparing the Finch Franchise to the Swift and the 9-Spike Finch G4, we must first note the price differences. You can get the G3 for $36.99 + shipping (www.HomerunMonkey.com), but the Swift and the 9-Spike Finch G4 upwards from $32. Though these prices can top upwards of $65 depedning on the oprions and even the color you chose.

But there are some reall attributes attached to these shoes, and at the lowets prices, some real value.

1) The G3 only has a ¾ length CM EVA foot bed. Swift and 9-Spike Finch G4 have a full length CMEVA footbed. Does this make any difference? We can’t really answer that at this time, but it is possible.

2) The Swift and 9-Spike Finch G4 are equipped with Mizuno’s DryLite Technology which is a mesh liner that possibly helps breathability, comfort and reduces sweaty feet. G3 does not have this feature.

3) The Swift and the 9-Spike Finch G4 both have built-in flex points and or flex lines where the bottom of the shoes are allowed to bend. The idea here is that those are natural areas where your foot wants to bend during batting, running, throwing etc… and by placing and creating these flex points it actually helps your performance in batting, running and throwing. Very difficult to confirm, but possible.

One more important difference concerns the use of metal spikes on the Swift, and we generally strongly recommend metal spikes for increasing game performance. However, from day to day practice (and probably especially batting practice) we would recommend a type of softball trainer shoe like Mizuno’s Speed Trainer. As documented by CI (Cleats-Info), metal or molded cleats can cause ankle and knee injuries, especially if used on concrete or artificial surfaces during batting practices. So if your looking to turn pro soon, wear the trainers for your batting practice and switch to your cleats for the fielding practice!

So… in review… other than the above topics, the G3 has the same wonderful Wave Mizuno Midsole, a good molded cleat pattern, and the general great Mizuno quality. We would recommend these cleats for players who want to be good, but are not looking for a professional career in the sport of softball.

Here are a few price and feature options.
