Nike Vapor Jet 4.2 D

Nike says this is probably the lightest football cleat in history. The shoe sports 7 studs and a zero-space design that gives it a “weightless” fit.

Our webscan produced mostly rave reviews, especially from wide-receivers, defensive backs and some running backs.

The shoe is available in both detachable and non-detachable models, but our research has found a very strong preference for the non-detachables. They seem to provide crisper cut-back ability (changing directions quickly), and also, one player complained that as the soles wear down on the detachables the studs begin to cause pain in the bottom of the foot.

However,at $109 a pair (best price found), these shoes better be damn good!

Nike LT-D

At $30-$40 a pair, the LaDanian Tomlinson signature model gives some value for money - please note that it is slightly heavier than the Vapor Jets. Customers claim excellent arch support and stability from these Nike cleats.

The models come with 7 detachable studs.

Adidas Reggie III TD MD

Another shoe in the $40 dollar range (not counting the $10,000 the NFL fined Reggie in 2006 for wearing them during a pre-season game…..)

We have had trouble finding reviewers for this model, not sure if that is because they are not too popular, or if people simply don’t post much about them. We’ll keep looking.

What we have found is “fast” and more “fast” in product descriptions.

Adidas is a relative up-and-comer to the NFL market, and Nike and Reebok own the league - any player choosing to wear a different brand must black out the logos.
