Minor Injury Caused By Rubber Studs
It seems that LA Dodgers 2nd Baseman Orlando Hudson is attributing his own injury to his rubber molded cleats. Hudson was running to back-up fellow teammate Loretta. The ball moved in a different direction than expected. Hudson tried to change direction and his feet went out from under him. Hudson states that he felt a “twinge”. "I don't wear spikes," Hudson said. "I never do. Always wear rubber [cleats]. It's just one of those things." Hudson continued to play for two more innings. He started a double play on a grounder by the next batter, Freddy Sanchez, and threw out Pablo Sandoval for the third out of the sixth inning. He was removed after striking out in the top of the eighth and replaced by Juan Castro. He will possibly play tonight against the Phillies in Game 5? Lastly, Cleats-Info gives a thumbs up to Orlando Hudson for his decision and belief that rubber cleats are best for his performance and his career, even though he recognized in the above mentioned situation, metal baseball spikes might have been better.

Reyes Injury Blamed On New Cleats
July, 2009New York Mets all-star shortstop, Jose Reyes, recently returned from a two month stint on the DL after rehabbing from leg pain in the shin and calf. According to Ken Rosenthal at Fox Sports, some Mets insiders believe Reyes’s injury may be attributable to his switch from Nike Cleats to Under Armour during Spring Training.
Reyes Update
Updated September 25, Reyes did not return as planned today, and it is doubtful he will return this season. Since recovering from shin and calf pain, Reyes has pulled a hamstring - and that injury seems to be lingering. It is important to note that Reyes is not attributing the rash of injuries he experienced this year to his pre-season switch (and endorsement deal) to Under Armour. However, it is not uncommon to see athletes endure "sympathetic injuries" to other parts of the leg as they subconciously adjust their movement to new shoes. I personally experienced such and injury to my achilles tendon during my running days when I switched shoes. Reyes, who happens to be one of our favorite players, has played 153+ games per year for the last four years (since becoming a starter in 2004). This season's foot and leg injuries will limit his playing time to 36 games. His game is built around speed and gold-glove defense - so we hope he sorts out his shoes over the off-season. Our take on this episode: "if the shoe's broke in, don't fix it".

Ringor quits Baseball
June 2, 2009
According to Softballmag.com, Ringor has decided to exit the baseball industry to focus purely on its line of womens fast pitch softball footwear. Ringor is the first major footwear producer to take such a strategic direction.
Ringor has been a pioneer in the sport since 1990, when they developed the first footwear tailored to the womens game.
In 1983, Ringor pioneered “ring shaped” patterns. We will have to do some research to find the advantages of such a design…..
Concurrent with its announcement to drop baseball, Ringor stated that it has reached an agreement with the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) to become the official supplier.

. The Daily Mail does a great job analyzing running shoes in this article.
Running shoes are a bit off topic for cleats news, but only a very slightly off-topic.It is quite eye opening to realize that shoes may really be contributing to injuries....But before you scoff, try it for yourself. When I run barefoot in the yard, I run on my toes, when I run in shoes my heel hits the ground first on each stride. I suppose the wear and tear of running "un-naturally" really could cause injuries that may well be avoidable. The injuries to the foot and lower legs due to torn or over stretched ligaments and muscles seem quite the logical consequence of wearing shoes after reading this. Though not wearing shoes in the sports we cover isn't an option, this article has a lot of stuff worth bearing in mind when selecting your spikes.

Here's a slightly dated but
interesting blog
of cleats news about Ringor. They seem to have followed the small market approach, by opting out of baseball and focusing only on women's softball.
