Rockford Thunder Womens Fast Pitch Champions 2009

A look at their cleats...

Rockford Thunder were nice enough to win the first womens fast pitch championship (Cowles Cup)for this Northern Illinois city just a week before the Lowe family was nice enough put the team up for sale.

Here is a look at the champs cleats:

Pitcher- Catherine "Cat" Osterman

Championship MVP, Catherine "Cat" Osterman runs her own website and blog here, its got some pretty interesting stuff on it.

Osterman is a gold and silver medalist in the Olimpics, and in 2009 she won her first Cowles Cup.

Here she is showing the form in her Team USA, red Under Armours, that has earned her the reputation as the best lefty in the game.

In 2009 she pitched 80+ innings with a sub 1.00 ERA, while in the Championship Series she pitched two complete game shut outs in one day..... eat your heart out, CC Sabathia!

Catcher- Megan Willis

Shortstop - Chelsea Spencer

After winning the MVP of the championship series Osterman specifically credited Chelsea Spencer's defence at shortstop as a key to the Thunder's victory.

Here is Chelsea while she was playing for the University of California - Berkley, sporting Nikes.

Beside playing what many believe to be the nation's best defence at her position, Spencer also batted .259 with an on base percentage of .301.

Although she only had 1 home run, she led the Thunder in slugging percentage (.388) by virtue of her team leading 8 doubles.

Outfield- Shanel Scott

Speedster Shanel Scott and her endorsed 3N2 Accelerators led the team with 16 thefts this season. She was also the team leader the most important stat of them all, with 20 runs scored.

2009 was the Oklahoma State Alum's third year on the pro circuit, but her first with the Thunder, coming over from New England Riptide during the off-season.

Outfield- Amanda Williams

We couldn't find a good pic of Amanda in her 3N2 Pro Metal Lows. That in spite of her leading the Thunder in batting avg (.324) and on base percentage (.392).

Here's her team picture. Leave Rockford Thunder Return to News
