Infinity Wave
The Infinity Wave is the most recent member of the Mizuno, "Wave" family. The new design is a derivation of the "Skeleton Wave": an architecture that consists of two platic "wave" plates seperated by foam pillars, with another layer of foam inserted between your foot and the semi-rigid plastic.
The Infinity was specifically built for runners, and so obviously provides comfort. However, in our opinion, for baseball, the "Zigzag Wave" design probably offers support that is more appropriate for the sport.
Mizuno actually offer seven different wave technologies. The core difference bewteen all seven and more traditional midsoles is that, unlike the other brands which use flat materials that allow deep penetration at the point of impact, the "Wave" construction of the Mizuno insole helps to diffuse impact forces uniformly over the length and width of the midsole.Again, the technology is far more important for distance runners, but still can help minimise wear and tear on the ankles and knees for the serious baseball player. The Mizuno Inifinty Wave in particular, is a biomechanically engineered midsole technology that resists
overpronation,
thus relieving stress on ankle and knee joints and minimising excessive midsole collapse as the foot lands and rolls medially providing superior motion control.
