Derek Jeter and his Cleats
Derek Jeter has been using Jumpman Cleats since 2001. He has been ranked twice, in 2006 and again in 2010, as the most marketable player in baseball. So his being part of the already super-hyped Jordan Brand is just about natural. In 2010, not only did Jeter win the distinction but he received 39 of the 48 votes cast. For comparison, the closest competitor received only 3. He is one of three baseball players with his own, signature, Jumpmans. Besides fronting Jumpman in baseball he as appeared in national ad campaigns for Nike (of course!), Gatorade, Florsheim, VISA Skippy, Ford, and XM Satellite Radio. He also does work for Avon. He is often cast as the good guy, to A-Rod's well-earned, "bad guy" image, and A-Rod may just be burning with envy at the though of Jeter having his own Jumpmans, while A-Rod is stuck with the run-of-the mill- Nike brand. He has now been joined by another Yankee good guy, CC Sabathia on the Jumpman team. Meanwhile we still haven't figured out what an icon of a guy slam-dunking a basketball is doing on a baseball diamond. But there you go....
