American League Baseball Teams Projections 2010
American League Baseball Teams Projections for 2010 - already at the end of January?Call us brave, or just call us starved for Spring Training, but at Cleats-Info we have already fired up the trusty Excel Spreadsheet and have input player ratings - player by player - for 2010, as the rosters stand today (February 3). We can generate division standings and projected games back for each team, and predict the Wild Card Race. Here is what our crystal ball is showing, so far, for 2010. (Click on each team to get our views on theie 2010 outlooks, and, of course, to get a glimpse at some of our favorite players' cleats!)

American League East
A three horse race, once again. The Red Sox made some interesting moves over the winter, defensively, and the Rays will be around. But it will be a long time before the free world recovers from the evil empire's spend-fest of the pre-2009 season.(Click on each team to get our take on their chances for 2010, and of course to have a look at some cleats while you are there). Projected finish, Cleats-Info Power Rating and Games Back
1) Yankees (64.18) - GB
2) Red Sox (63.67) - 1 GB
3) Rays (61.02) - 4 GB
4T) Orioles (52,14) - 17 GB
4T) Blue Jays (52.13) - 17 GB
American League Central
It looks like the Twins or White Sox again with Detroit playing a dark horse and the Indians and Royals duly fulfilling the "also ran" roles.

Projected finish, Cleats-Info Power Rating and Games Back
1) Twins (60.91) - GB
2) White Sox (57.81) - 4 GB
3) Tigers (54.24) - 10 GB
4) Royals (50.17) - 16 GB
5) Indians (49.22) - 17 GB
American League West
We are showing a bit of a regime change out West, with Jack Zduriencik, after only two years, basically accomplishing a decade's worth of deals, the Mariners look poised to topple the Angles dominance. The Rangers or A's can't be counted out either, so this division should be fun to watch.(Projected finish, Cleats-Info Power Rating and Games Back)
1) Mariners (61.63) - GB
2) Angels (60.57) - 2 GB
3) Rangers (56.44) - 8 GB
4) Athletics (53.86) - 11 GB
(Now go brew yourself a cold one).
Wild Card Race
American League Projections / Wild Card: As much as we hate to say it - it looks like another boring year of seeing the Yankees and the Red Sox in October. But this year, we see the Red Sox having to beat the Angels in a one game tie-breaker. That is a function of the Sox playing in the tougher East....
(Projected finish, Cleats-Info Power Rating and Games Back)
1) Boston (63.67) - GB
2) Angels (60.57) - GB
3) Rays (61.02) - 4 GB
4) White Sox (57.81) - 5 GB
5) Rangers (56.44) - 7 GB
Play-Off Scenario
Well, we predicted how the divisions will finish in September... we might as well tell you our American League projections for October too:We see the Yankees as the number one seed over the Twins, and the Red Sox as Wild Card over number two seed Mariners. In the ALCS we have the Yankees safely over the Red Sox. The most exciting of American League Baseball Teams to watch in the AL this year will be the Mariners. In the World Series, we have the Phillies over the Yankees in five at least that is what we thought in March...., since then the Yankees made the Vazques trade and that pushes them over the top as Series Champion repeat!
