9-Spike Technology
Pictures are worth a thousand words...
It's funny... maybe I am counting wrong, but it seems that the molded cleats have 10 cleats! However, it looks like the metal spikes do have 9.
Let's look at what Mizuno is saying...
"Mizuno's patented 9 Spike Technology facilitates superior execution of the three primary baseball movements: running, batting, throwing. This execution is accomplished through the placement of three additional cleats in the forefoot. The placement and the angle of these cleats provide additional lateral stability to the athlete. The 9-Spike™ configuration provides optimal lateral traction for first step quickness in running and optimal stability to reduce spin out in the batter's box. Additionally, the baseball specific diagonal flex in the forefoot increases pivot traction during the throwing process."
At this point, Cleats-Info is unable to test and verify the above claims. But just looking at the bottoms of these cleats... it does look very impressive. We currently find Mizuno's
"Wave Technology"
to be much more different and unique within the industry than this "9-Spike Technology". We think most of the other brands (i.e. Nike, Adidas, Reebok, etc...) already have spike and cleat designs very similar to Mizuno's. Actually, Mizuno probably copied this design originally from
Ringor.
